2026 Workshop: October 15-16, 2026

The Rising Stars in Chemical Engineering workshop was created to address the unique challenges faced by top early-career women who are interested in faculty careers in chemical engineering. While there are elements of the workshop that are focused on the experiences of women in academia, all are eligible and encouraged to apply to the program.

This two-day workshop brings together top doctoral students and postdoctoral researchers who are approximately one year away from submitting applications for faculty openings. The program will include research presentations, panel discussions with MIT faculty, communications workshops, and networking events with faculty, graduate students, and postdoctoral researchers currently at MIT.

Eligibility and Recommendation Guidelines
Eligibility: Applicants must be doctoral students and post-docs who aspire to submit faculty applications to chemical engineering departments in the Fall of 2028 or later. Individuals already holding faculty positions or submitting faculty applications in Fall 2027 will not be accepted.

Selection: 20 candidates will be selected from the submitted applicants.
